The Gamble House on Orange Grove

Here's a photo of the Gamble House that I took on the way to the 2005 Rose Bowl game.

This photo is not entered in the Smackdown (unless there's a separate "Big and Non-Bushy" category.)

Absolutely lovely. I'm drooling.

Aha! You chose a huge one that is well-lit without a sloping porch and no surrounding trees... and it looks amazing. (How can you go wrong with this famous beauty, right?)

Well played, Mister E. And so fast! Next week I'll do an updated post with links. (I think we should vote on this ... I'm already working on a prize...)

Good job, ALTHOUGH, I think points should be awarded on scale of difficulty. I have a plan...

LA, the prize/award had better be a good one: like free gourmet dog food 4 a month!

Hi gang - I never intended to get off easy. That's why I asked if the Gamble House was even eligible. Petrea suggested I enter it. I'm going to see about taking some others and either withdrawing this one or entering it in the "Big and Non-Bushey" category.

Hello. Came by way of Petrea's answer to Laurie's challenge.

It looks like it fits the description of a Craftsman house. But it's so much bigger than the ones I've seen so far! It's gorgeous though.

Hilda, I think this one defines the category! Good job, Mr. Earl. You stinker.

Hilda - The Gamble House was built by one of the families that owned Proctor & Gamble, a major corporation that manufactures personal care products. The house is one of the most famous by architects Greene and Greene. It is owned by the city of Pasadena and is on display to the public.
http://www.gamblehouse.org/. Another very famous Greene and Greene house is the Blacker House. You can google both of these houses to see more photos. There's a coffee table book about the Blacker house for which Brad Pitt (yes that Brad Pitt) did the photos. Why he isn't blogging, I can't imagine.
